This is an illustration from the upcoming book, Myth of the Golden Fish (working title). This was the part where the sacred texts were stolen.
On the positive, it represents emptiness. According to Buddhist tradition, the state that you want to be in is in a state of emptiness. Non-grasping. Non-craving. Non-judgement. No thought.
I see emptiness as a state of readiness. Open to receiving wisdom and insight. Prepared for learning. A meditative state.
I didn't create this illustration intentionally. I just left the pad blank. I thought I might add a character or sitting Buddha later, but it didn't happen. When I started the illustrations for The Myth of the Golden Fish, this image was already made. It fit perfectly into the story, and I had this strange feeling that there were more images like that, already made for this book.
