Desert Rose & Rock

I went on an excursion with some friends to Desert Hostsprings. We ended up in a place called Miracle Springs. It was indeed a miracle that we were all together at that time. I needed a reprieve from the city and found inspiration for artwork and writing. In reflecting on this piece, I see that there's a desert rose. It is able to adapt to harsh conditions. The desert rose symbolizes strength, persistence, resilience and hope.

When I painted this, it was a very difficult time for me. Those near and dear were making decisions about their bodies that weren't in alignment with truth, health, or reality. I was being criticized and rejected for not being a part of that.

One of the things I'm grateful for is the ability to think for myself and not always follow the crowd. Follow your heart, your inner guidance, the great spirit. Follow nature. The truth will set you free.
